The Pensacola, FL Chapter of IPMS, The Pensacola Modeleers,
began as a small club of modelers about 20 years ago. We
received our IPMS charter in February 1998.
Our
club meets every
2nd
and
4th
Saturday
(see
schedule)
of
each month at John's Models off US Highway 29 at 1206 East
Kingsfield Rd
(see
map).
The first meeting each month is our “Show and Tell” where
our members bring in their models to show their current work
both during and after construction. The second meeting is
our “build Session” where our members bring in their models
to work on. During this meeting we discuss modeling tips
while working on our models.
Other
events we sponsor are an annual Swap Meet, The Pensacola
Modeleers Modelfest and a Christmas party/social each year
for the members.
(see
special events)
We conduct several local "make it and take it" classes
for youngsters each year. We enter a group project each year
at the IPMS Nationals. This year it is "Strangers in a
Strange Land". We also have club contests with a contest
"theme" as well as open categories. We have also
been awarded Region 3 Club of the Year 2004.
Our membership has now grown to over 30 members ranging from
pre-teenagers to adults. We have skill ranges from novice to
expert. All modeling disciplines are welcome. Although the
majority of our members build aircraft, we also have
modelers who do armor, figures, ships and sci-fi.
Annual
dues for full time members are $20 per year or $2 per month. This helps us fund our IPMS Nationals project and our annual Model Expo contest.
Membership also grant you a 10% discount on all model kits
and John's Models. If
you are interested in joining us contact
John Struck or
Warren Dickerson
for more
info.
